4.1.3.4.1. Procedure for draining the engine oil RES 9.5 EC / RES 13 EC / RES 12 TEC
Drain the oil while it is still warm.
1. Drain the oil.
a. Open the door of the enclosure.
b. Move the main switch on the generating set to "OFF".
c. Isolate the battery charger from its electrical power supply.
d. Disconnect the generating set engine starter battery, negative (-) lead first.
e. Unclip the oil drain pipe from its mounting. Remove the plug from the oil drain pipe and insert the pipe in a container to
collect the oil.
f. Open the oil drain tap on the engine.
g. Allow sufficient time for the oil to drain completely.
h. Close the oil drain tap.

Plug the oil drain pipe. Clip the oil drain pipe back onto its mounting.
2. Replace the oil filter.
a. Remove the oil filter by turning it anticlockwise using an oil filter wrench.
b. Clean the mating face of the adaptor in contact with the oil filter.
c. Apply a thin coat of fresh engine oil to the rubber seal on the new oil filter.
d. Fit the new oil filter according to its instructions.
Note: dispose of all waste (engine oil, fuel, filters, etc.) in line with environmental protection guidelines.
3. Fill up with oil.
a. Remove the oil filler plug and fill with engine oil to the "F" mark on the dipstick. The engine oil capacity is 1.9 L.
b. Put the dipstick and the oil filler cap back in place.
c. Check that the generating set's main switch is set to "OFF".
d. Reconnect the generating set engine starter battery, negative (-) lead last.
e. Switch back on the electrical power supply to the battery charger.
f. Start the generating set and allow it to run for one minute to enable the oil to reach its operating pressure.
g. Switch off the generating set, wait for 1 minute, then check the oil level again. Top up the oil to the "F" mark on the
dipstick, as required.
4. Check for leaks.
a. Check for oil leaks.
b. In the event of a leak, carry out a repair, then check the oil level again.
c. Close the door of the enclosure.
