2.3.10 Installation check prior to starting
The inspections referred to in this section enable the generating set to operate. Specific skills are required to
carry out these operations. They must only be entrusted to personnel with the necessary skills.
Failure to follow these instructions in any way could lead to incidents or very serious accidents.
Warning
Ensure that all the installation instructions detailed in this document have been applied.
Inspect all the wiring and connections to check that the generating set is ready to use.
Before starting, check the following check list, point by point.
Air filter: check that the filter element fitted in the filter is clean to avoid any unfiltered air from entering the engine.
Air inlets: check that the air inlets are clean and free from any obstruction.
Battery: check that all the battery connections are correctly tightened.
Exhaust line: check that the exhaust is properly sealed and not clogged. Check the mechanical condition of the silencer and
pipes.
Check that there are no cracks, leaks or corrosion on the exhaust line components. Check that all the exhaust unions are
correctly tightened.
Look for corroded or broken metal parts and replace these where necessary.
Check that the exhaust outlet is free from any obstruction.
Oil level: keep the oil level topped up as close as possible to, but not exceeding, the "max" mark on the dipstick.
Operating area: ensure that there are no obstacles that could obstruct the free circulation of cool air. Keep the air intake area
clean. Do not leave cloths, tools or debris on or around the generating set.
2.3.11 Voltage regulation and frequency regulation
Do not operate the generating set until the protective devices and electric covers are in place.
Danger of death or serious injury as a result of dangerous electric current/voltage. A short circuit may
cause physical injuries and/or damage to equipment. Do not allow tools or items of jewellery to make contact
with the electrical connections during adjustment or repair operations. Do not wear jewellery while carrying
out maintenance operations on the equipment.
Warning
The controller has a mode (menu) for adjusting the output voltage and frequency if necessary. The generating set must be adjusted
by an approved agent or maintenance technician.
Note: These adjustments require the use of a digital multimeter for checking the output voltage and frequency.
If the output voltage or frequency are not correct according to the guidelines, use the ADC controller to correct the output voltage
and the engine speed (frequency) while the generating set is in operation. The precise adjustment procedures are detailed in the
charts in figures 2.38 to 2.44.
Note: Any changes made must be saved before exiting configuration mode.
Changes to voltage and frequency will be lost if they are not saved before the generating set is switched off. The generating set will
continue to operate with the new values until it is switched off but the old values will be restored when the generating set is next
used if the changes are not saved.
