4.7 WORK DEPTH
Work depth adjustment of the machine is established by the posi-
tion of the levelling roller.
4.8 ROLLER ADJUSTMENT
The rollers can be adjusted in the following ways:
Hydraulic
The machine has 2 hydraulic cylinders (accessories available on
request, 1 fi g.26).
After having hitched it to the tractor, connect the hydraulic pipes to
this latter so as to operate the roller regulating cylinders. The opera-
tor can make the most suitable adjustments from inside the tractor.
The hydraulic pipes have recognition stickers (fi g.22) showing:
1) Rear roller lowering.
2) Rear roller lifting.
The two cylinders also have an automatic blocking valve (2 fi g.26).
WARNING
The rollers can only be hydraulically regulated when the
harrow is used alone. Only pin adjustment is possible when
it is used in combination with the Seed Drill (see «with pins»
description).
By pins
This type of adjustment allows you to work in two distinct ways.
1) Fixed tilling depth:
After having established the most suitable tilling depth, set the
pins (1 and 2 fi g.28) in the holes immediately above and below
the roller connecting arm (3 fi g.28). This allows the knives of
the implement to dig into the soil and work it at a constant depth
maintained by the position of the pins, which guarantee the fi xed
roller setting.
2) Variable tilling depth (swinging):
Unlike the previous method, the pin is either not needed (2
fi g.29) or can be set in the highest holes, so as to allow the arm
to swing to a certain extent (3 fi g.29).
As the arm can move (3 fi g.29), the machine can ride over any
obstructions encountered during the tillage operations without
the roller being damaged, as the actual arm moves within the
swinging range established by the positions of the pin (1 fi g.29),
since it is no longer blocked by these latter.
Moreover, the advantage of «variable depth» tillage is that it
obtains a more or less uniform soil working level both at the
beginning and end, since the implement digs into the soil at the
beginning as gradually as it raises at the end.
4.9 COMBINED MACHINE WITH SEED DRILL
The harrow can work in combination with the seed drill (fi g.30).
First and foremost, thoroughly check to make sure that the ma-
chine can be used with the seed drill, then check that the seed drill
has been assembled correctly, the right way and that there is no
interference with the hydraulic pipes.
The «Work depth» can only be regulated with pins in this combi-
nation.
4.10 LEVELLING BAR
This is situated between the roller and harrow (1 fi g.31) and is fi xed
to the roller-bearing sides with 2 pins (2 fi g.31).
It allows already tilled soil to be levelled and refi ned to a further
extent before the roller passes over the ground.
The levelling bar can be regulated by operating the rams (1 fi g.32),
which are installed on the front beam of the roller.
The best position is 4 to 5 cm higher than the roller bearing posi-
tion (fi g.33).
Since the position is fi xed with pins, the adjusting movement is
circular and when the levelling bar lowers, it nears the ground in
