After the diesel engine is started, turn off the starter engine immediately. The
relay operates and the pinion will go back disengaging from the engine.
Continued use of the starter engine must not exceed more than 15 seconds.
The interval between two starts must be 2 to 3 minutes. If the diesel engine can
not be started in three consecutive times, check and fix any errors. The duration
of the preheater electric power must not exceed 30 minutes

6 Notice of operation of turbocharged diesel engine

The turbocharger is mounted in the exhaust pipe of the diesel engine. The
exhaust gas discharged from the cylinder enters the turbocharger through the
exhaust pipe, then gas drives the compressor turbine which in turn pushes
clean air into the cylinder. Due to increased air pressure in the cylinder, more
fuel can be injected in order to obtain more power with the same displacement.
(The turbocharger with discharge valve has advantages as a large torque at low
speed and performance in high and low speed).
Take the following precautions when operating a turbocharged diesel engine:
1. Proper lubrication is the key to extend a service life of turbocharger and the
of the rotor, the high temperature of the turbine (about 640 ℃) and the
engine itself, because the turbocharger is an accurate part. The high speed
lubricant pressure configure the rotor shaft (called floating bearing) to work.
The lubricant must be of high quality and be pressurized. Pressurized
lubricant should be used from the lubrication system of the engine itself. The
turbocharger speed is greater than diesel; therefore inferior, low quality and
dirty lubrication can damage the turbocharger. A damaged turbocharger can
affect the engine. Therefore, using quality API CH-4 O Cl-4 oil is necessary
for the engine, change the oil, check the oil filter and the crankcase (should
be always clean) according the maintenance plan. If there is any damages in
the turbocharger and the diesel engine due to a lubrication problem,
precautions should be taken such as not using inferior quality oil, make oil
changes, change oil filter, keep clean oil in the crankcase and aspire the oil
pump regularly, otherwise the oil will age and deteriorate. Deterioration of oil
can cause a blockage of the oil passage with serious damage, liability is
solely of the client.
The oil to be used is SAE15W40 API CH-4 O CI-4 this oil covers
temperatures from -10 to 40º so it would be suitable for continental climate.
