ded protective distances in the chapter Recommended
protective distances from portable and mobile HF com-
munications devices. Avoid sources of interference by
ensuring that portable or mobile radio devices are not
operated in the vicinity of the device.
When handling the handpiece and the handpiece cable,
E
protect them from contamination by bodily fluids or sub-
stances contaminated with bodily fluids by means of a
handpiece cover (see chapter "5.7 Inserting or replacing
the safety cartridge" on page 41).
If the device is not being used, disconnect it from the
E
power supply and place the handpiece in the handpiece
tray so that it cannot roll away or fall.
Observe the technical data provided in this operating
E
manual and comply with the operating, transport and
storage conditions (see chapter "8 Transport and stor-
age conditions" on page 46).
Return the device to a specialist retailer for inspection if
E
there are signs of damage, if it does not function as nor-
mal or if liquids enter the device or handpiece.
Return the device to a specialist retailer for inspection in
E
accordance with the manufacturer's instructions (safety
check), at regular 24 month intervals. In this regard, refer
to chapter Inspection.
Before use, always ensure that the date for the next in-
E
spection (safety check) on the test plate of the control
unit has not passed. Do not use the device if the date on
the test plate has passed and commission a new inspec-
tion if necessary.
2.3 Important health and safety
precautions
Please observe the following instructions in order to prevent
contaminations or infectious diseases being transmitted to
the patients or users during treatment:
Follow all of the steps for disinfecting the equipment be-
E
fore treatment (see chapter "5.5 Cleaning and disinfect-
ing the equipment" on page 40).
Use disposable gloves made from nitrile or latex during
E
the treatment and disinfect these before use. Observe
the applicable directives for your country when selecting
suitable disinfectants.
Clean the respective area of the patient's skin with a
E
mild cleaning agent and disinfectant before treatment.
Observe the applicable directives for your country when
selecting suitable disinfectants.
During use, the handpiece, the handpiece cable and the
E
device including the integrated handpiece tray must be
completely covered with protective film. The handpiece
EXCEED
must be covered with the protective film before attach-
ing the safety cartridge (see chapter "5.6 Pulling the
handpiece cover on" on page 41).
safety cartridges are sterile disposable products (con-
E
sumables) and are only ever permitted to be used once!
Dispose of used or faulty safety cartridges as well as
E
safety cartridges whose packaging is damaged in a non-
penetrable sharps container in accordance with the reg-
ulations applicable in your country.
Before the treatment, switch the handpiece off and
E
check that the needles have been completely withdrawn
into the safety cartridge. If this is not the case, dispose
of the safety cartridge immediately.
Ensure that safety cartridges never come into contact
E
with contaminated items, such as clothing for example.
Contaminated safety cartridges must not be used but
rather disposed of immediately.
Check at regular intervals whether the handpiece is vis-
E
ibly contaminated by bodily fluids running back or by the
accompanying preparations being used. In this case, ob-
serve the contents of chapters "7.4 Cleaning surfaces"
on page 46 and "7.2 Material compatibility" on
page 45, as well as the chapter "2.2 Product-specific
safety instructions" on page 32.
If a local anaesthetic is being used, this should be thor-
E
oughly removed before the treatment.
Always hold the handpiece firmly before switching it on
E
or place it in the handpiece tray. If an unsecured hand-
piece is switched on, it may move uncontrollably through
vibrations and prick or cause injury (see chapter
"6.3 Switching the handpiece on and off" on page 43).
Injuries through contaminated needles or safety cartridges
can result in the transmission of diseases (see chapter
"5.7 Inserting or replacing the safety cartridge" on
page 41):
In the event of being injured by a contaminated needle,
E
seek immediate medical attention from a physician!
In order to prevent the intensity of the treatment exceeding
the extent desired:
Prevent the risk of injury due to the needles protruding
E
too deeply (see the "6.5 Setting the needle protrusion
depth" on page 44 section).
Avoid risk of injury due to the penetration frequency be-
E
ing too high (see chapter "6.4 Setting the penetration
frequency" on page 44).
