In the case of systems with a pressure reducer upstream of the water inlet of the heat exchanger, you are recommended to
check calibration a minimum of once every 2 years (contact our assistance service for the exact calibration).
Do not tamper with the pressure reducers, otherwise the guarantee will be terminated. Contact our assistance service.
In the case of diesel pumps with safety valve installed downstream of the heat exchanger, it is obligatory to regularly check that
the valve opens correctly and that the pressure reading on the pressure gauge before the valve is above 2.8 bar.
The water impurity filter of the inlet circuit of the heat exchanger must be cleaned a minimum of every 6 months and/or after
every 6 hours of operation of the machine.

Routine maintenance required as per EN12845
The entire EN 12845 – UNI 10779 compliant fire-fighting unit, including each pressure module installed, must always be kept in
perfect working order. Regular maintenance plays an important part in this.
The user should, in accordance with standard EN 12845 (20.1.1) - UNI 10779:
 Perform a set of checks and inspections;
 Prepare a testing, assistance and maintenance schedule;
 Keep a record of all activities, and keep the documents in a folder at the site.
The user should contract out the testing, assistance and maintenance activities to the installer of the unit or to an equally
qualified company.
6.2.1

Weekly check

Each part of the weekly check must be performed at a frequency of no more than every seven days. These are (EN12845 para
20.2.2):
checks
 Pressure of the gauges,
 Level of water in the storage tanks,
 Correct position of the main on-off valves.
Pump automatic starting tests
Checks to be carried out on the automatic pumps should include:
1) Check the level of fuel and lubricating oil in the Diesel motors.
2) Simulate automatic start-up by reducing the pressure in the starting devices (pressure switches). Open the pump's manual
starting valve.
3) Check that the pump starts up, and make a note of the starting pressure.
4) Close the manual starting valve and restore the level of pressure in the system.
In the case of a Diesel motor, this should run for a minimum of 5 minutes.
5) Stop the pump by turning the switch to "MAN" and pressing the "STOP" button.
IN THE CASE OF FIRE-FIGHTING MODULES WITH DIESEL MOTORS
Restarting tests.
1) Restart the diesel pump immediately after it stops, by pressing the "START" manual starting test button.
2) Press the "STOP" button on the electric panel to stop the pump.
During the test:
- check the oil pressure (using the pressure gauges, when applicable, or another suitable measuring device).
- check the temperature of the motor and the coolant liquid.
- check the oil pipes.
- perform a general inspection to check for any leaks (of the fuel, coolant, exhaust fumes, etc.).
Check correct operation of all the heating and ventilation systems required to guarantee the correct environmental conditions for
the unit.
6.2.2

Monthly check

Each part of the monthly check must be performed at a frequency of no more than every four weeks. These are (EN12845 para
20.2.3):
- Check the level and density of acid in all the cells of the starting batteries, using a densimeter. If the density of the acid is low,
check the battery charger and replace the batteries if necessary.
6.2.3

Quarterly check

Each part of the quarterly check must be performed at a frequency of no more than every thirteen weeks. These are (EN12845
para 20.3.2):
Check for any changes to the system or risk category, etc.
 Check the sprinkler, pipes and pipe supports (refer to EN 12845, point 20.3.3.2 - UNI 10779).
 Start up the pumps and check their pressure and flow rate.
 Check operation of any generators – generating sets.
 Operate all the on-off valves to check their working order, and then secure them in their normally open position.
 Check that the secondary supply of power provided by the diesel generators is correct.
 Check the efficiency of the flow meters.
