(2) Set Incubate on for the RACT Cartridges with citrated whole blood. For instrument instructions consult the
operator's manual.
(3) Tap the cartridge to resuspend the activator. Make sure any activator clinging to the cartridge wall is dislodged.
Tapping the bottom of the cartridge against a solid surface or flicking with a finger will facilitate this dislodging.
(4) HR-ACT and LR-ACT Cartridges
a. Warm the cartridge in the heat block to 37 ° ± 0.5 °C (98.6 ° ± 0.9 °F) (allow 3-5 minutes) then add the required
amount of blood sample to each cartridge channel (HR-ACT: 0.4 ml/ channel; LR-ACT: 0.2 ml/channel). Each
channel is marked with fill lines that indicate upper and lower limits of the sample volume for each channel.
b. Start the test by rotating the actuator heat block to the closed position.
(5) RACT Cartridges
a. Add the required amount of blood sample (0.2 ml/channel) to each channel of the cartridge. Each channel is
marked with fill lines that indicate the upper and lower limits of the sample volume.
b. Simultaneously warm the cartridge and blood sample to 37 ° ± 0.5 °C (98.6 ° ± 0.9 °F) by setting Incubate on and
starting the test by rotating the actuator heat block to the closed position. The test will automatically begin after the
incubation cycle is complete.
(6) Results are displayed in seconds in two formats: a) the test time for each channel, or b) the average and difference
of the channels. Pressing the front panel switch controls the display format.
(7) Following termination of the test, dispose of the cartridge, syringe, and needle in approved biohazard disposable
containers.
