High-frequency surgical device GN300
Pedal assignment
Press the toggle key for pedal assignment 39 to assign the foot switch
to the corresponding generator.
If, for example, the foot switch is assigned to the bipolar part, the mono-
polar part can only be activated via the handpiece.
Switch to pedal assignment using key 39 in order to activate the
monopolar part via the foot switch.
The current pedal assignment is indicated via the signal lights 34
and 40.
Activation of high-frequency
After properly connecting the preselected neutral electrode and a suitable
handpiece with double finger switches, the monopolar generator can be
activated using the handpiece. The different acoustic operating signals for
CUT and COAG then sound and the corresponding LEDs 17 or 27 illumi-
nate.
Pressing two keys on the handpiece at the same time is identified as an
error and is displayed with the corresponding error code "Er 21".
When using a handpiece without finger switches, the device must be acti-
vated using the double foot switch GK224 or the Vario double foot switch
GN325.
Neutral electrode monitoring
If the connection of the properly connected and preselected undivided
neutral electrode is interrupted, the error code "Er 10" is displayed and the
LEDs 47 also flash. To avoid putting the patient at risk, activation of the
monopolar HF generator is also blocked.
Accessories
Before preparing the accessories, check them for visible damage to
their insulation and power plugs; also ensure that these accessories are
the proper ones for the device.
If any defect is detected, particularly in plugs or connecting cables, the
defective components must be set aside immediately.

Activation of the unit
If the device is connected to the mains, the green LED 5 will illuminate. By
pressing the "Device on/off" switch 7, the device is switched on and the
green LED 3 illuminates. All LEDs and segments of the dosage displays illu-
minate for a short period of time and the acoustic power indicator (buzzer)
is activated.
If, during the switch-on process, a neutral electrode is connected, the
error message "Er 01" appears. If this error status is removed by separating
the neutral electrode from the device, the neutral electrode type can be
changed. The symbol "NE" is shown in display 16 and the preselected type
number in display 22. Changes can be made within a time window of
approximately 3 seconds, see Preselection of the neutral electrode type.
After this time lapses, the device will use the following basic settings
(default settings) when first being switched on:
CUT
Bipolar
1
Monopolar
5
For Monopolar CUT, modulation index 1 is preselected.
For Monopolar COAG, COAG normal is preselected.
The foot switch is assigned to the bipolar part.
After being switched on, the device generally uses the last used settings.
Selection of the modulation index for monopolar CUT
Keys 21 and 23 can be used to preselect the modulation index and there-
fore the degree of sloughing when cutting. One of the LEDs 24, 22, 25
or 20 will illuminate according to the selected modulation index.
