High-frequency surgical device GN300
Preselection of the neutral electrode type
The selection of the neutral electrode type can be carried out for a dura-
tion of 5 seconds after pressing the "Device on/off" switch 7.
Whilst "NE" is shown in the dosage display 16, the "-" key 28 or "+"
key 29 can be used to select up to three neutral electrode types, depicted
in dosage display 26 by figures 1 to 3.
Neutral electrode Type 1: Silicone one-surface neutral electrode and
disposable one-surface neutral electrode (undivided neutral electrode)
Neutral electrode Type 2: Adhesive two-surface neutral electrode
(divided disposable neutral electrode)
Neutral electrode Type 3: Aesculap-Silicone two-surface neutral elec-
trode (reusable divided neutral electrode)
The LEDs 45, 46 and 47 above the respective neutral electrode picto-
gram, show the currently selected type.
The preselection of the neutral electrode type remains set, even after sep-
arating the device from the mains. If the user does not wish to make any
changes to the neutral electrode type, the selection process can be
skipped by pressing the "+" and "-" keys.
Preselection of buzzer volume
If the toggle key 39 has been pressed at the time of switching the device
on ("Device on/off switch 7), the volume for the activation tone, which
signals the high frequency output, can be selected.
"SU" appears in dosage display 16 and the current volume in dosage
display 26. The volume can then be set between 40 and 100 using the "-
" key 28 and the "+" key 29. The buzzer is then activated at the set vol-
ume. The volume setting pane automatically disappears if the volume is
not changed after a short period of time.
In order to ensure that the HF activation tone is clearly audible, the vol-
ume cannot be reduced below 40. Warning tones will always be emitted
at full volume, regardless as to the set volume for the HF activation tone.

Activation of the monopolar output
After properly connecting the preselected neutral electrode and a suitable
handpiece, the monopolar generator can be activated using the hand-
piece. The different acoustic operating signals for CUT and COAG then
sound and the corresponding operating indicators 17 or 27 illuminate.
Pressing two keys on the handpiece at the same time is identified as an
error and is displayed (error code: "Er 21").
When using a handpiece without finger switches, the device must be acti-
vated using the foot switch.
Activation of the bipolar part
The bipolar part can solely be activated with a foot switch. There are three
different foot switches to choose from depending on requirements:
Single pedal foot switch (GN161 and GK226): only COAG
Double foot switch (GN324): CUT/COAG
Vario double foot switch (GN325): CUT/COAG, proportional 0–100 %
Activation with Vario double foot switch (GN325)
In addition to the CUT activation as usual, the Vario double foot switch
GN325 also offers further options, both for bipolar and monopolar coag-
ulation. Depending on the pedal position, 0-100 % of the set HF output
power can be controlled in the COAG dosage window 12 or 26. The bar
display 38 above the pedal symbol shows the current pedal position.
Example:
If a user selects a coagulation dosage of 60 using the "+" or "-" keys, and
when the pedal is fully pressed, they will receive a dosage of 60 and the
bar display 38 will illuminate completely. However, if the pedal is only
partially pressed, the dosage will be given in small increments less than 60
(depending on the pedal position) and the illuminated part of the bar dis-
play will be reduced.
