Checks
Before starting up the tyre-changer, be sure to become familiar with the location and operation of
all controls and check their proper operation (see par. Definition of machine components and controls).
• All checks must be made with the tool carrier arm in «rest» position. To do this, use the manipulator, where
featured, otherwise move the arm by hand after having removed the relevant clamps.
WARNING: KEEP YOUR FACE FAR FROM THE TOOL CARRIER ARM WHEN REMOVING SECURING
DEVICES TO TILT IT UP.
• Check the proper operation of the chucking table arm control cylinder: use the manipulator to raise and lower
the arm.
WARNING: MOVEMENT OF THE CHUCKING TABLE ARM INVOLVES POTENTIAL
CRUSHING POINTS, ALWAYS WORK FROM THE POSITIONS SHOWN IN FIGURES 2, 4, 6
AND 8 OR IN ANY CASE OUTSIDE THE ACTION OF MOVING PARTS.
• Check the proper operation of the tool carrier movement control cylinder and the mobile footboard: use the
manipulator to move the carrier from right to left and vice-versa (with respect to position C, Fig. 2, 4, 6 and 8).
• Check the proper operation of the wheel-carrier chucking table: use the lever with guard located on the rotating
push-button panel to control jaw opening and closing.
• Check the proper sense of rotation of the chucking table, by means of the buttons on the rotating push-button
panel or the pedals on the mobile pedal unit.
WARNING: CHUCKING TABLE OPENING AND CLOSING OPERATIONS CREATE
POTENTIAL CRUSHING POINTS, ALWAYS WORK FROM THE POSITIONS SHOWN IN
FIGURES 2, 4, 6 AND 8 OR IN ANY CASE OUTSIDE THE ACTION OF MOVING PARTS.
• Check the proper operation of the hydraulic circuit by controlling the total opening of the chucking table arms.
With the switch in the same position, make sure that the pressure gauge located on the chucking table arm
reads 130 Bar +/-5%.
IF THE PRESSURE INDICATED IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RANGE OF VALUES DO NOT
USE THE TYRE-CHANGER AND IMMEDIATELY CALL THE TECHNICAL SERVICE
DEPARTMENT.

Precaution measures during tyre removal and fitting
A.
BEFORE FITTING A TYRE, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING SAFETY RULES:
• RIM AND TYRE MUST BE CLEAN, DRY AND IN GOOD CONDITION. IF NECESSARY, REMOVE THE
BALANCING WEIGHTS (INCLUDING THE ADHESIVE WEIGHTS ON THE INNER SIDE OF THE RIM)
AND CLEAN THE RIM. CHECK:
−
TYRE BEAD AND TREAD FOR DAMAGE
−
RIM FOR DENTS AND/OR DEFORMATION (ESPECIALLY FOR ALLOY RIMS, DENTS CAN
CAUSE INTERNAL MICRO-FRACTURES, THAT PASS UNOBSERVED AT VISUAL INSPECTION,
AND CAN COMPROMISE THE SOLIDITY OF THE RIM AND CONSTITUTE DANGER EVEN
DURING INFLATION).
• ADEQUATELY LUBRICATE THE CONTACT SURFACE OF RIM AND TYRE BEAD. USE SPECIFIC
TYRE LUBRICANTS ONLY.
• REPLACE THE INNER TUBE VALVE WITH A NEW VALVE. IF THE TYRE TUBE HAS A METAL
VALVE, REPLACE THE GROMMET.
• MAKE SURE THAT THE TYRE IS THE RIGHT SIZE FOR THE RIM. NEVER FIT A TYRE UNLESS YOU
ARE SURE IT IS THE RIGHT SIZE (THE RATED SIZE OF THE RIM AND TYRE IS USUALLY PRINTED
DIRECTLY ON EACH OF THEM).
B.
BEFORE REMOVING A TYRE, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING SAFETY RULES:
• THE TYRE MUST BE COMPLETELY DEFLATED.
• DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR OR WATER JETS TO CLEAN THE WHEELS ON THE
MACHINE.
