Permanent Lead
Anchoring for PNS
1. Using standard surgical technique, cut
down to the anchoring site.
CAUTION: Avoid damaging the lead
when cutting down to the anchoring site.
2. Remove the needle while keeping the
lead in place.
IMPORTANT: Once the insertion needle tip
is exposed, hold the lead as close to the
percutaneous exit site as possible, then
carefully pull the needle completely from the
lead.
3. Place an anchor over the lead and ensure
correct location.
4. Secure the anchor to the appropriate
tissue.
CAUTION: Do not suture directly onto the
lead or use a hemostat on the lead body,
as this may damage the lead.
5. Secure the lead with a suture sleeve by
tightening the sleeve around the lead with
a nonabsorbable suture.
OR
If using the Clik™ Anchor to secure the
lead, follow the instructions in the Clik
Anchor DFU.
6. If connecting the lead to an extension,
follow the instructions for "Connecting
the Lead Extension" on page 29

7. Create a subcutaneous tunnel between
the midline incision and the exit site until
the straw is visible and accessible at
the exit point. Refer to the instructions
for "Tunneling the Lead or Lead
Extension" on page 28.
8. If performing a permanent Trial, follow
the instructions for "Intraoperative
Stimulation Testing" on page 24.
OR
If performing a permanent implant,
program and activate the IPG using the
instructions in the Bionic Navigator™
Software Guide.
