Battery charging
CAUTION – NEW Battery: first charging
The Translux 2Wave battery has been partially charged at the factory. Therefore the battery must be fully
charged before using the Translux 2Wave for the first time.
NOTE – NEW Battery: first charging
For the first charge, this process will take about 3 hours . New batteries or batteries stored for a long time may
take longer to charge. The battery will reach its full capacity after a few full charge / discharge cycles.
WARNING – RISK OF EXPLOSION
Use only the charging unit, supplied with the Translux 2Wave, to charge the battery. Never attempt to charge
the battery using another battery charging unit or power source, due to risk of explosion and fire.
Insert the hand piece with the battery into the Translux 2Wave charging unit.
A beep confirms that the contacts are in the correct charging position!
IMPORTANT NOTE – Alignment key
The alignment key ( 5 ), located at the back bottom part of the hand piece's case, allows the correct insertion
of the hand piece in the charging unit. When inserting the hand piece into the charging unit, the alignment key
must be aligned with the slot positioned inside the charging unit.
Battery charging process.
The battery status is indicated by the battery icon at the bottom of the hand piece display.
a) Battery is completely empty
In this case, before starting the charging process, the electronics of the hand piece carry out a pre-qualification
phase during which a few functioning parameters of the battery are checked out.
During the pre-qualification phase, that can last approximately from 10 to
30 minutes, the battery icon on the display shows one single black bar blinking ( Fig. a ).
Ending the pre-qualification phase, without detecting any battery defect,
the " regular " battery charging process starts and all the four black bars inside the
battery icon blink progressively (Fig. b).
IMPORTANT NOTE – Defective battery
If during the pre-qualification phase, the hand piece electronics detects
a battery malfunction, the electronics interrupts the changing process and the
frame of the battery icon (without internal black bars) will blink ( Fig. c ).
In this mode, a beep signal is emitted every second for a period of 30 seconds.
Replace the defective battery with a new one!
WARNING
Use original batteries only! Kulzer GmbH will provide only original batteries supplied by Mectron S.p.A.
b) Battery is partially charged
In case of a battery being partially charged, (one or more internal black bars are displayed inside the
battery icon) the charging process starts almost immediately after having inserted the hand piece into the
charging station.
All the four black bars inside the battery icon blink progressively (see Fig. b).
c) Battery is fully charged
When the charging phase is finished (battery fully charged) all the four black bars
inside the battery icon are permanently displayed ( Fig. d ).
NOTE
When the hand piece is placed in the charging unit its functioning is inactive.
The operativeness of the hand piece buttons are prevented.
The hand piece can be removed from the charging unit during the charging process; however, the battery
may not be fully charged and may shorten the operational duration.
