2.2 Safety information relating to the Arm
2.2.1 Intended and non-intended use
2.2.1.1 Intended use
The Arm has been designed and built to be installed on automatic machines such as lathes and turning
centres as a process control device.
N.B.
The Arm is marketed under a declaration of incorporation (Directive 2006/42/CE, Appendix II 1
B) since it is not designed to be operated autonomously, but mounted on a machine.
The Arm shall conform to the safety regulations only if it is installed on the machine tool it has
been designed to be used with, and if the latter is certified with the corresponding CE
declaration of conformity.

Modifications that alter either the design specifications of the Arm, thereby affecting safety or
risk prevention, may only by implemented by the manufacturer, who shall be responsible for
guaranteeing that it conforms to the applicable safety regulations
Therefore, modifications or maintenance operations not covered by the technical documentation
shall be considered arbitrary.
Marposs S.p.A. declines all responsibility for the consequences of the failure to observe these
safety instructions.
2.2.1.2 Unauthorised uses

on the tube of the arm indicated on the following label:
Once it has been installed on the machine, do not attempt to operate the arm manually, as
indicated on the label, as doing so could damage it.
The Arm may not be used:
1. in environments where there is a risk of fires or explosions;
2. in environments where contaminating agents such as acids, corrosive gases, salt etc. are present
(see paragraphs "5.1.1.1 Type of environment and 5.1.1.6 Contaminating agents")
3. in environments where the Arm may be exposed to forms of radiation such as microwaves,
ultraviolet rays, lasers, X rays ( see paragraph "5.1.1.7 Ionising and non-ionising radiation");
Furthermore, the user MAY NOT:
4. alter the original configuration of the Arm as described in Chapter "3 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
AND TECHNICAL DATA";
5. connect the Arm to energy supplies other than those described in Chapter "3 GENERAL
DESCRIPTION AND TECHNICAL DATA";
6. connect the Arm directly to the energy sources: the Arm must be controlled by a system that
conforms to the safety regulations covering machine pneumatic or hydraulic supply systems.
7. use the components for any other purpose than that intended by the manufacturer.
