lity for effective steam sterilization was performed by an independent accredited
testing laboratory by using a W & H Lisa steam sterilizer (type 517; W&H STERI-
LIZATION S.R.L., Brusaporto Bergamo, ITALY; 510(k) clearance with K022816) with
the fractional vacuum procedure. The gravitation procedure does not apply to this
device. Typical conditions prevalent at a clinic or physician's practice as well as
the above-mentioned procedure were taken into consideration.
14. STORA4GE
After sterilization, store the dry instrument in its sterile packaging in a dry and
dust-free environment.
15. MATERIAL DURABILITY
When selecting cleaners and disinfectants, always ensure that they do not
contain the following components:
• Organic, mineral or oxidating acids (minimum allowed pH-value 5.5)
• Strong lye (maximum allowed pH-value 11; we recommend a neutral/
enzymatic or slightly alcaline cleaner)
• Organic solvents (e.g. alcohol, ether, ketone, benzine)
• Oxidants (e.g. hydrogen peroxides)
• Halogens (chlorine, iodine, bromine)
• Aromatic/halogenated hydrocarbons
• Heavy metal salts
Never clean medical devices with metal brushes or steelwool.
All medical devices may only be subjected to temperatures up
to 141°C (286°F)!
16. REUSABILITY
The lifetime of the Deflector Shaft is limited because it is subject to a
natural wear and aging. Inappropriate handling, e.g. overloading, unsuitable
cleaning agents, high sterilization temperatures, etc. reduce the lifetime of the
instrument.
An examination of the instrument on functionality and soundness must take
place during the processing, after the disinfection and before the sterilization
(see chapter 12). If a deterioration/defect is determined, then the instrument is
