Flywheel 2
CAUTION
• When separating flywheel from crankshaft's tapered sec-
tion with puller, flywheel will pop out by disk spring.To avoid
this, loosen the flywheel nut until it is nearly on the same
level with crankshaft end and separate the flywheel. Never
remove the flywheel nut before separating.
• IMPORTANT
- Before loosen or tighten the flywheel nut with a flywheel
stopper (3), fix the engine to the ground or solid base, so that
the engine can not raise. Then loosen or tighten the flywheel
nut taking care that the stopper may not get out of place.
1- Fix the thrust bearing stopper 2 (1) between the left counterweight
and the crankcase.
2- Set the flywheel stopper (3) to the flywheel 2 as shown in the
photo.
3- Loosen the flywheel nut with flywheel nut socket 78-120 (2)
until it is nearly on the same level with the crankshaft edge.
4- Install the safety nut (4) onto crankshaft to avoid flywheel from
jumping out when detaching the flywheel 2.
5- Detach the flywheel 2 from the crankshaft with flywheel puller
2 assembly (5).
6- Lift up the flywheel 2 a little bit with a hook (6).
7- Remove the flywheel after removing puller and safety nut.
8- Remove the feather key and disc spring.
(When reassembling)
• IMPORTANT
- Be sure to fix the thrust bearing stopper 2 (1) before
installing the flywheel 2.
- Apply Moricoat to the flywheel nut and engine oil to the
thread of the crankshaft, and tighten the nut to the specified
torque.
- After tightening the flywheel nut, check the thrust bearing
(7) for missing.
- Be sure to bend flywheel washer after tightening the nut.
