(3) Corrective points and corrective measures

For adjusting the timing between the looper
(hexagonal wrench key (3 mm) 1 ) and needle bar
9 , loosen 9 setscrews !1 of rear top cover !0 and
remove rear top cover !0 and packing !2 .
Remove oil pump asm. !7 (which is fi xed with two

screws !8 ) . Loosen three screws !5 in front and rear
couplings !3 and !4 of the main shaft. Engage a key
wrench with setscrew !6 in main-shaft front coupling
!3 to turn the setscrew clockwise or counterclockwise
for adjustment while keeping main-shaft rear coupling
!4 from moving. Then reassemble the oil pump asm
adjusting the backlash.
<Backlash>
0.1 to 0.3 mm
Loosen setscrews !8 . The backlash is increased

by raising the oil pump or decreased by lowering
it.
1. Align the match marks.
2. For moving the front main shaft cou-
pling !3 , temporarily tighten one of the
fi xing nuts !5 , which is close to the
match mark, and make an adjustment.
™ To increase the clearance between hexagonal
wrench key (3 mm) 1 and throat plate 2 , rotate
front main shaft coupling !3 clockwise.
™ To decrease the clearance between hexagonal
wrench key (3 mm) 1 and throat plate 2 , rotate
front main shaft coupling !3 counterclockwise.
After adjustment, put the rear top cover !0 and

packing !2 back on and tighten the setscrew !1 .
