7.0 ADJUSTMENTS AND OPERATION
7.1 CARDAN SHAFT
Cardan shaft adaption
The Cardan shaft, supplied with the machine, is of standard length.
Therefore it might be necessary to adapt the Cardan shaft.
In that case, before doing anything, consult the Manufacturer for
the eventual adaptation.
Hitch the machine to the tractor and stabilize the tractor's third
point with the device installed for that purpose (bar, chain, etc.).
Disengage the tractor's PTO and turn off the engine.
Connect the driveline shaft to the tractor's PTO.
Connection is correct when the machine is horizontal in the ope-
rating position.
To achieve this, increase or decrease the length of the top bar of
the hitch (B Fig.15) so as to set the axis (X Fig.15) of the housing's
grooved ring nut parallel to the ground.
Inspections at work:
-The two angles (α Fig.15) formed by the fork axes and the axis of
the sliding tubes will be equal and must not exceed 10°.
-The sliding tubes (C Fig.15) must overlap by at least 15 cm (Fig.16).
Inspections in the raised position:
- Proceed with a lifting action (tractor PTO disengaged).
- The two tubes of the driveline shaft must not fully overlap. There
must always be a safety travel (D Fig.15) of at least 4 cm.
- The angles (α Fig.15) of the drivelines must not exceed 40° (Fig.15).
If these two results are not obtained:
- Shorten the sliding tubes by the same extent (Fig. 17 and 18),
deburr and trim (Fig.19), then grease the inside of the outer tube
(Fig.20).
- Make sure that the upper hitch bar is as parallel as possible to the
lower bars of the hitch.
If this is not suffi cient, correct the way the top link of the hitch couples
to the tractor or machine, as necessary, or at least considerably
attenuate, the jolts to which the driveline shaft is subjected during
the lifting phase.
- If errors have been committed, disengage the tractor's PTO before
lifting the machine.
Repeat these inspections when the machine is hitched behind another
tractor.
CAUTION
When the cardan shaft is fully extended, the two tubes must
overlap by at least 15 cm.
When fully inserted, the minimum play must be 4 cm. (Fig.16).
CAUTION
If the implement is used on another tractor, always check the
before and that the guards copletely cover the rotating parts
of the cardan shaft.
