7.4 CONVEYORS AND EXTENSIONS
Function of the conveyor (1 Fig.35) is to hold the soil inside the
rotary hoes' chamber, to work it better, and avoid leaving accu-
mulations of it at the sides of the machine. It also has a protective
function, as it obstructs the clearance between the leveling plates
and the external side.
The extensions, (2 Fig.35) applied to the leveling plates, allow to
obtain an excellent leveling of the soil, where the external sides
and the skids would leave accumulations of soil. To assemble
conveyors and extensions, proceed as follows :
- First fi x the extension (2 Fig.35) at the end of the leveling plate,
as shown in Fig.35, using the two screws B (F01020476 - M10x30)
and nuts (F01220033 - M10X 1.5).
- Then mount the conveyor (1 Fig.35) at the end of the outer
side using the two screws A (F01010291 - M12x35) with nuts
(F01220047 - M12x1, 25), as shown in Fig.35.
7.5 SIDE TRANSMISSION
Side gears drive
The rotor is operated by a set of side gears (Fig.36) housed in a
special casing with thick walls able to give the transmission con-
siderable sturdiness.
7.6 HOE BLADES
The hoe blades with which the machine is equipped can work soils
of normal conformation.
These are made of optimum quality steel and the heat treatments
to which they are subjected ensure an extremely tough and wear-
resistant product.
Curved and/or square blades can be fi tted, depending on the soil
characteristics.
Check the degree of wear and condition of the hoe blades each
day. If the blades should accidentally bend (or break) during work,
they must be immediately replaced.
Remember to mount the new hoe blade in exactly the same position
as the old one (Fig.37).
If several hoe blades must be replaced, it is advisable to remove
and assemble one hoe blade at a time in order to prevent posi-
tioning errors.
The machine are normally equipped with 6 blades per fl ange.
When the soil is wet and tends to clog it is, however, possible
to mount 4 hoe blades per fl ange.
The heads of the bolts fi xing the hoe blades in place must be
on the side of the hoe blades themselves, while the nut with
relative washer must be on the fl ange side (Fig.37).
Apply the tightening torques as listed in the Chart.
If the hoe blades must be changed, remember to set the new blades
in the same positions as the demounted ones (Fig.37).
7.7 GEARSHIFT
Machine are equipped with a gearshift (Fig.38), with one pair of
gears.
A variety of rotation speeds of the rotor can be obtained so that
the needs of the operator can be better met.
It is very useful for land which is uneven in that it makes rotary
hoeing easy and at the same time allows the tractor to be main-
tained at a constant speed.
Invert the gears or change their positions to change speed.
WARNING
To carry out this operation:
1) Make sure that the gearbox is cool enough to work in safety
without scorching the hands. Wear adequate gloves if necessary.
2) Remove the rear grid of the gearbox by unscrewing the 3 fi xing
screws .(1-2-3 Fig.38).
