Chapter 6 Installation and initial commissioning
The positioning of the light barrier depends on the desired functioning of the labeller,
which is configured using the DIP switches [SW2] and [SW3] (details see page 46). Here
is a short overview:
DIP-Switch
Short description
setting
[SW2] = ON
The trigger signal causes the feed of the label with
a subsequent application.
[SW3] = OFF
The labeller waits with a label on the tamp pad in
the basic position.
[SW2] = OFF
The trigger signal executes the cylinder movement
[SW3] = ON
with a subsequent application.
The labeller waits with a label with an extended

Approach
Connect the sensor to the I/O interface (comp. pos. 2, Fig. 6-3 page 40) of
the labeller (insert and screw in).
Position a product in such a manner under the labeller that the extending
dispensing tamp would apply the label to the desired position on the product.
Now, position the Product Detector at the front or rear edge of the product
(upon detection of the product rear edge separate the MODE line from pin 2,
comp. Fig. 6-6, see page44). The reflector is mounted on the opposite side.
A slightly diagonal arrangement of the light barrier reduces error triggers
(caused by reflections from the surface of the product).
Labelling without product stop:
The print and tamp movement time needs must be taken into account for the
sensor positioning, whereby the light barrier (in direction of travel) must be
pre-positioned.
