Explanation
This acronym stands for Radio Frequency IDentification (ra-
dio detection). With the help of this technology it is possible to
perform the labelling of products with so-called Smart-Labels
(see RFID-label) with the aim of providing traceability func-
tions.
The RFID tag, also referred to as Smart-Label, is a special
label which is equipped with a transponder that is able to
send or receive data via radio signal. The identification of
such labelled products is possible via contact-free antennas.
A proximity sensor that is mounted on the dispensing tamp
and recognizes the product. If a product is detected, the label
is blown on / dispensed
A powered axle with a fixture for the attachment of the label
strip. The spindle is used for the winding of the carrier strip
Duration of the stamp movement (extension and retraction)
during the labelling cycle.
Contact-free application mode, during which the dispensing
tamp takes over the printed label through vacuum, and
"blows" it onto the product
Contact-free application mode, during which the dispensing
tamp takes over the printed label through vacuum, and
presses it onto the product
Touch-controlled screen, display, monitor...
See Trailing edge
The trailing edge of a product/label is used to start a process
(also refer to edge detection)
The transponder is part of an RFID label and is also referred
to as tag. It consists of a micro-chip and an antenna. This
chip is able to store and output data that has been transmit-
ted via radio waves. The antenna of the transponder is used
as a transmitting and receiving antenna. At the same time, it
provides the required power to the chip by transforming the
energy of the electric field of the RFID transmitter antenna
into power.
The signal of a sensor or a PLC, that is used to activate an
application process.
Attachment fixture of the label roll (usually for a 3 inch card-
board core). The unwinder enables a smooth, jerk-free label
roll unwinding, and thereby is metered through a roller brake
(see also dancer arm). Unwinders can also be equipped with
a motor drive.
AC voltage.
A unit that uses compressed air to generate vacuum (nega-
tive pressure).
DC voltage.
Name of the signal generated by the print module, which is
internally sent to the applicator controller upon detection of a
bad tag.
