ENGINE OIL DILUTION
During normal engine operation, the
engine electronic control unit (ECU)
GB
software is able to estimate the engine oil
wear status through an internal algorithm.
Upon each oil change interval, it is
necessary to reset the "Oil Dilution
Calculation" function.
This operation is mandatory and can be
carried out as follows:
A) With the diagnosis tool available at
workshops authorised by VM MOTORI
FCA ITALY.
B) Through the following operating
sequence:
1 - Turn the ignition key to "ON" with the
engine off.
2 - Fully press the accelerator pedal to
the end stroke.
3 - Hold the accelerator pedal pressed
for 3 seconds, then fully release it.
4 - Wait for another 3 seconds before
fully pressing the accelerator pedal
again.
5 - The sequence 2,3,4 must be repeated
for 5 times.
If the operation sequence has been
carried out correctly, the engine oil low
pressure warning light will flash for 3
times for 1 second each, with a pause of
0.5 seconds.

A correct operating sequence B is only
ensured in the following conditions:
- The engine application must be
equipped with potentiometer / accelera-
tor pedal supplied by VM MOTORI FCA
ITALY and directly connected to the
ECU (Engine Control Unit).
- The oil low pressure warning light
must be directly connected and man-
aged by the ECU.
If necessary or in case of doubts,
contact the manufacturer of the vehicle
in which the engine is installed or a
workshop authorised by VM MOTORI
FCA ITALY.
