Distilled water must be used if it is
necessary to clean internal parts of the DEF
fluid containers or the tank itself. Never use
paper or unsuitable clothes.
GB

surfaces that may have been splashed with
DEF fluid with plenty of water.
- Use only DEF fluid and relevant
equipment certified according to the
international standards ISO 22241 - 1 - 2
- 3 - 4: 2006 (E).
- Use a dedicated pump. Do not use the
same pump for filling other liquids (e.g.
oil, coolant).
- To visually check the quantity of DEF
fluid contained in the tank, use the
level indicator normally located on the
instrument panel of the vehicle in which
the engine is installed (see example in

Filling-checking-topping up operations must
be carried out with the engine off.
Position the vehicle on a flat surface.
Use only the specific equipment
recommended by the DEF fluid supplier and
appropriate tools as specified by standard
ISO 22241- 4. Avoid applying weights to the
DEF fluid canalisation nozzle towards the
tank.
- Avoid any DEF fluid contamination.
Do not fill with uncontrolled DEF fluid
solutions.
- In case of wrong or accidental
filling with unsuitable DEF fluid, it is
recommended not to turn on the engine
and promptly contact the manufacturer
of the vehicle in which the engine is
installed or a workshop authorised
by VM MOTORI FCA ITALY for the
relevant cleaning and restoring service.
Otherwise this results in an irreparable
damage to the DEF injection system.
