RECOMMENDATION FOR ENGINE USE AND OPERATION
The engine has been designed and manufactured to meet all the operating conditions
GB
indicated by the manufacturer.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE
During use, it is necessary to comply with
the following instructions:
1 - Carry out the engine maintenance as
defined by the manufacturer.
2 - Avoid using the engine at its maximum
performance or with no load for long
periods during running-in.
3 - If the engine is used occasionally, it is
recommended to start the engine at least
once a month, running it for about 5 (five)
minutes at an operating temperature of
70C°- 80°C (158°F - 176°F). When the
engine is turned off, wait for at least 60
seconds before disconnecting the power
supply. During the first working hours,
make sure that the coolant has reached
at least the temperature of 60° C (140°F)
before applying the maximum engine load.
4 - Do not use the engine at maximum
performance before it has reached the
operating temperature of 70°C - 80 °C
(158°F - 176°F).
5 - When starting the engine for the first
time, run it at no-load and minimum speed
for a few minutes and make sure that the
oil pressure value is within the range in
the table (see "Technical data - Lubrication
circuit" on page 14). If values other than
those in the table are found, contact the
manufacturer of the vehicle in which
the engine is installed or a workshop
authorised by VM MOTORI FCA ITALY.
6 - In case of use with low ambient
temperature, proceed as follow:
preheat the engine adequately.
- with ambient temperature lower
than -10°C (14°F), contact the vehicle
