As a guide to visual inspection, some possible
situations and related instructions are illustrated
below:
- ABRASION
Each side of the belt is polished and vitreous.
- Problem caused in operation by contact with a
foreign object - excessive belt tension - belt ten-
sioner failure.
- The belt must be replaced, the functionality of the
belt tensioner and pulleys checked; any foreign
body must be cleaned and removed.
- IRREGULAR RIB WEARING
The belt shows damage and irregularities in the
edges that can cause breakage in the tensioning
cord.
- The problem may have been caused by a body
or foreign material in contact with the belt during
operation.
The belt must be replaced; clean and check the
pulleys.
- INCORRECT INSTALLATION
The belt ribs begin to separate from the weave
of the connecting threads, until the top covering
weave is detached, if no immediate action is taken.
- The problem develops when a part of the belt
does not work perfectly aligned and housed in the
seat of each pulley.
The belt must be replaced, check the pulleys and
the alignment.
