- MISALIGNMENT
GB
crease worn, the ribs are moved from their posi-
tion, an abnormal noise can be heard. In serious
cases the belt comes out from the pulley seat.
- Misalignment forces the belt to twist or rotate
while rotating, causing premature wear.
The belt must be replaced and proper alignment of
the system ensured.
- BELTS PORTIONS COME OFF
Rubber parts of the belt come off and jump off. The
belt can break at any time.
- The problem occurs with multiple cracks forming
in an area parallel to the belt tensioning cord, due
to exposure to excessive heat, ageing and stress
caused by abnormal operating conditions.
The belt must be replaced immediately.
- FRAYING
The belt shows broken sections on the ribs, with
formation of grooves. In this condition, excessive
vibration and abnormal noise are generated.
- The problem may have been caused by a loss of
voltage, a misalignment, running on worn pulleys,
or a combination of these possibilities.
The belt must be replaced, check the alignment.
- CRACKS
The belt has lengthwise cracks on one or more
ribs.
- Due to continuous exposure to high temperatures
or moving forces on the pulleys, cracks begin to
form on the belt, which from the ribs propagate
to the tensioning cord. The presence of several
cracks concentrated in a small area causes a con-
siderable shortening in the useful life of the belt.
The belt must be replaced immediately.
