- If the engine has to be started out of the water,
in the sea water circuit of the engine and in any
outdrive applied to it by the manufacturer of the
boat where the engine is installed.
or open the bilge door to properly ventilate the
engine compartment for at least 5 minutes.
- Make sure that routine checks and maintenance
operations are carried out as described on page
34.
- Make sure that the routine maintenance opera-
tions prescribed in the table on pages 35-36 have
been carried out.

It is recommended to carry out on the engine
any service operation deemed necessary by an
authorised VM MOTORI FCA ITALY workshop
consulted on the matter.
DANGER - WARNING
Do not attempt to start the engine when there
is someone in the water near the boat where
the engine is installed.
Moving parts of the engine and related acces-
sory parts can cause serious injury or death
to those who come into contact with them.
