6. VALVE CLEARANCE

1 Inspection/Adjustment:
• Valve clearance inspection/adjustment must be made with
the engine cold.

Remove the following parts.

- Engine cover (P. 4-2)
- Alternator cover (P. 7-2)

- Ignition coil/regulator/rectifier (P. 18-23)
1) Remove the main wire harness from the cylinder head
cover, and disconnect the breather tube from the cylinder

head cover.

2) Remove the fuel strainer [low pressure side] from the fuel
strainer stay.

3) Remove the two 6 x 14 mm flange bolts, and remove the

fuel strainer stay from the cylinder head cover.

4) Remove the seven 6 x 35 mm flange bolts and remove the

cylinder head cover.

• Oil can leak out when the cylinder head cover is removed.
Catch the leaking oil with a shop towel and/or a suitable

container.
