(3) High-Volume-Low-Pressure (HVLP) Cuff:
•
The HVLP-cuff (3) is located on the distal end of the tracheostomy tube and directly con-
nected to the inflation line (3a).
•
The proximal end of the inflation line includes a pilot balloon (3b), with incorporated
EN
self-sealing check valve and a female Luer connector (3c).
•
The HVLP-cuff is inflated with air only.
•
The pilot balloon (3b) displays the cuff resting diameter (CD) and size, where appropriate.
(6 – 6a) Subglottic Suction Line:
•
TRACOE vario extract tracheostomy tubes (REF 470-P, REF 471-P) include a subglottic
suction line (6) that is integrated into the wall of tracheostomy tube and exits through an aperture
at the lowest possible position above the cuff.
•
The proximal end of the suction line includes a standard female Luer connector (6a) port for
connection to an external accessory device used in subglottic suctioning or for the air/oxygen
supply for ACV. For subglottic suctioning, additional adaptors (14) can be used for connection.
•
The subglottic suctioning port (6a) can be closed by using the attached cap.
(9 –10 a) Minimally Traumatic Insertion System:
•
The combination of the inserter (9) and guiding catheter (10) with silicone sleeve (10a)
constitute the minimally traumatic insertion system.
•
The silicone sleeve bridges the gap between the conical end of the inserter and the distal
end of the tube.
•
The minimally traumatic insertion system is used for the placement of the vario tracheos-
tomy tube using the Seldinger technique.
(11) Obturator:
•
The non-perforated obturator (11) has a smooth, round, conical tip at the distal end. The
obturator is used for re-insertion of the tracheostomy tube for a tracheostoma that does not
require the Seldinger technique.
(12) Neck Strap:
•
The neck strap (12) is a soft strip of padded fabric that wraps around the patient's neck.
•
The ends of the strap include hook-and-loop fasteners that are inserted through the eyelets
of the neck flange to secure the tracheostomy tube in position.
•
The frequency of change is determined by the physician or healthcare professional.
(13) Lubricating Gel:
•
The lubricating gel (13) can be used for the insertion of the minimally traumatic insertion
system or obturator.
Supplementary Products:
•
Products, which can be used in combination with the vario tracheostomy tube are listed in
section "Supplementary Products".
