Input Transformer
When using a transformer for supplying energy to the Plant, the following precautions must be taken into consideration:
If the transformer to be used already belongs to the client, then it should supply the Plant's energy demand. If the
client needs to purchase a new transformer, the list of loads contained on the electric circuit should be checked to
decide on the correct size.
It would be best if this transformer were a step-down voltage insulation transformer with the characteristics described
in the configuration of the transformer.
Configuration of the Transformer
1. Primary of the transformer: the value of the voltage on the primary network varies according to the company that
supplies the electricity (6.5 / 13.2 / 13.8 /... KV), considering that the supply at primary voltage, according to current
legislation, allows for a variation at the point of delivery in relation to nominal voltage of +5% and –7%. Under normal
working conditions the system should operate within the appropriate range.
2. Secondary of the transformer: the output voltage of this secondary transformer (v), fig. 1, for a Plant configured at 380
Volts, should be 380 Volts between phases with 220 Volts between any one of the phases and the neutral. In the case
of a Plant configuration in 440 Volts, the output voltage of the transformer should be 440 Volts between phases and
254 Volts between any one of the phases and neutral.
ATTENTION
Check the plant's working voltage before installing the input transformer.
The Drop of Secondary Voltage is the drop occurring between the secondary terminals of the distribution transformer and
the point of greatest distance vs. greatest current, which should not surpass 3%.
Below is an example of a connection on a transformer to provide energy for a Plant, fig. 2.
