Controlling the metering
A. Operating mode: allows you to view the operational mode of the plant, which
means that the status of the button can be in manual or automatic. Simply click
the button to switch between these two modes. When the button is on it is green
with the message "Automatic" and when the button is off it turns red and shows
the message "Manual";
Metering control in manual: in this control mode, the operation of the feed bins,
the asphalt pump, and of the metering screw conveyors is done manually, which
means that the operator indicates at which speed each element should operate;
Metering control in automatic: in this control mode, the system starts to operate
the feed bins, the asphalt pump, and the metering screw conveyors according to
the percentage indicated in the formula and the Plant's flow. In this process the
control system makes all the calculations and controls in order to obtain greater
precision in the quality of the asphalt mixture.
IMPORTANT
In order for the whole automatic feed control system to work in a satisfactory way, the
asphalt, filler, and fine aggregate scales need to be calibrated. Go to groups
calibration" and "Asphalt, filler and fine aggregate calibration".
B. "Turn on" button: this button boots up the automatic metering control system;
IMPORTANT
For safety reasons, the AC is blocked until the operator pushes the "Add Asphalt"
button on the asphalt converter window.
ATTENTION
In order to start the metering control in automatic, the motors of the
collecting belts and conveyor belts need to be on.
C. "Turn off" button: interrupts the metering of the aggregates. The AC injection
will be turned off after the delay time set on the asphalt calibration screen has
gone by. If the AC needs to be turned off immediately, the operator needs to
turn off the "Add Asphalt" button on the asphalt converter window;
ATTENTION
When switching from Automatic control to Manual, the feed bins, the
asphalt pump, and the screw conveyors will maintain the last speed set by
the automatic control. Each motor will have to be turned off individually
when shutting down the plant.
When switching from Manual control to Automatic, if some motor of the
metering system is on, it should be turned off and it will only be turned back
on if done so by the "Turn on" button seen above.
For this reason, much care needs to be taken when making these switching
procedures so that no material is lost and that the equipment does not
overheat.
